Hi there I have a 53 plate S60 D5 S and I have a question about the electirc window on the passage side. The window come down on the one shot but will not go up on the one shot. Can anyone tell if this is correct or if there is a problem with it. Thanks for any help

Yeah, it's a Volvo feature (same on my 53 S80). But it proved so annoying and unpopular that they returned to normal functionality with the next model revision. Another thing I find irritating is the headlamp dipswitch - the fact that the flash click comes before the dip. On most cars, the first resistance point dip-toggles, while the second flashes. Why do Volvo have to 'improve' on everything (read : F it up) ? The S80's switchgear's all badly designed IMO. Poor placement, excessive throw, counter-intuitive action. Unfortunately, the Swedish lack of design flair is all too obvious. No offence to Swedes, but let's be honest - it took a Brit (Tom Walkinshaw) to bring their design into the 20th century and away from wardrobe aerodynamics. Why can't Nordics/Germans do curves ? I guess it's something to do with the Teutonic need for order. All the beautiful design archetypes are Italian and French. That design flair is also apparent in their cabin ergonomics, which make driving a joy rather than an irritant. Maybe Volvo should think about outsourcing their design.

That's funny, because I couldn't disagree more! I find the cabin, switch and centre console layout to be spot on for my liking. Sure it's a bit dull to look at, but not too square and mind numbing, just pleasant. The switch layout on the centre console, especially for the climate control is perfection in itself. All the buttons are large, easy to find when driving and are obvious in function. I can't see anything wrong with the steering column stalks either, work just fine for me, although maybe a little old fashioned in feel. What's counter intuituve about it? Sure, the wiper settings work downwards rather than up, but so what? I love the way that you can still do one manual swipe with autowipers on, or that the wipers do another sweep when you increase the sensitivity. All very good attention to detail IMO. The only thing I'd fault Volvo for is placing the electric seat controls way down out of sight. They should be door mounted, ideally. Try some Far Eastern cars, some of them are so illogical and randomly laid out it's unreal.
