For reals. I REALLY wish upon exporting stems there was some way to retain the track name when the stem gets exported. Say you rebuild those stems in a another DAW to finish mixing your tune there, like many of us do. It's a MAJOR pain in the ass when stemming out a drum kit of about 10 different mics when you have to solo each one to determine if its the Overhead Left, Ribbon mic, Kick, Hats, Snare, etc etc etc etc and then rename those tracks. I'm sure there's a script. Perhaps there's a way to do I've never learned after all these years, but it's just a shame it doesn't do anything for you as far as retaining the track names for those stems. Surely there's an improvement that could be made here? Or, what option am I totally overlooking? Thanks guys.

You can..., use the wildcard #track in the render dialogue. If you use the song name, then wildcard #track, you'll get stems with the song name and track name.

EDIT: Ahhh jaydrake beat me. But my example has a kazoo in it, so I'll leave it :) Easy :) In the render window, hit the "Wildcards" button next to the filename dialog, and select $track. Then put any prefixes or suffixes you like in the filename dialog. Done. So for example, say you have 4 tracks named "drums", "bass", "guitar" and "kazoo". You set your filename dialog up to say "track $tracknumber $track of my lovely song". And you'll get the following filenames when you export stems: "track 01 drums of my lovely song.wav" "track 02 bass of my lovely song.wav" "track 03 guitar of my lovely song.wav" "track 04 kazoo of my lovely song.wav" Lots of other handy wildcards in there too. Time/date stuff, computer or user name, project name, even tempo & time signature. Lots of flexibility. Hope that helps :)
